Alex Rodriguez (Arod) honored @ Sports Legends Award with Jennifer Lopez in attendance-2018

American baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez won three MVP awards and hit nearly 700 home runs over his 22-year career, but saw his reputation tainted through his link to performance-enhancing drugs.

In 2001, Rodriguez signed the most lucrative contract in baseball history when he inked a 10-year, $252 million deal with the Texas Rangers. He arguably proved he was worth every penny, leading the American League in home runs for three consecutive years and winning the MVP award in 2003, but the team around him never took off like he’d hoped.

Following the 2003 season, he was traded to the New York Yankees, even agreeing to move to third base.

In New York, Rodriguez continued to post big numbers. He won another MVP award in 2005 after hitting .321 with 48 home runs, and delivered a monster season for the ages in 2007, topping the Majors with 54 homers, 156 RBIs and 143 runs to snag a third MVP trophy. That same year, on August 4, at age 32, he became the youngest player to hit 500 career home runs.

Following a brief pregame ceremony on August 12, Rodriguez donned the Yankee pinstripes for one final time as a player, contributing an RBI double in the first inning to help his team win. While he never reached the record-shattering heights that once seemed attainable, the slugger still finished with numbers that rank among the best ever in several categories, including home runs (696), RBIs (2,086), hits (3,115) and runs (2,021). Along with his three MVP awards, he won two Gold Gloves for his fielding prowess and was selected for 14 All-Star Games.

Rodriguez married Cynthia Scurtis in 2002. They have two children — Natasha (born 2004) and Ella (born 2008). The couple divorced in 2008. Rodriguez has reportedly dated various celebrities including Madonna, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz and, most recently, Jennifer Lopez.

Interview with Emerson Fittipaldi Formula one Champion & Indy 500 Champion-2018

Emerson Fittipaldi is a semi-retired Brazilian automobile racing driver who won both the Formula One World Championship and the Indianapolis 500 twice each and the CART championship once.

Moving up from Formula Two, Fittipaldi made his race debut for Team Lotus as a third driver at the 1970 British Grand Prix. After Jochen Rindt was killed at the 1970 Italian Grand Prix, the Brazilian became Lotus’s lead driver in only his fifth Grand Prix. He enjoyed considerable success with Lotus, winning the World Drivers’ Championship in 1972 at the age of 25, a youngest F1 world champion record that he held for 33 years.

He later moved to McLaren for 1974, winning the title once again. He surprised the paddock by moving to his brother’s Fittipaldi Automotive team prior to the 1976 season, being replaced by James Hunt. Success eluded him during his final years in Formula One, with the Fittipaldi cars not competitive enough to fight for victories. Fittipaldi took two more podium finishes, before retiring in 1980.

Following his Formula One career, Fittipaldi moved to the American CART series, achieving successful results, including the 1989 CART title and two wins at the Indianapolis 500 (in 1989 and 1993, the final at an unprecedented 47 years old).

Since his retirement from Indy Car racing in 1996, Fittipaldi races only occasionally. In 2008, he was one of only three people in history to have a Corvette production car named in his honor. At age 67, he entered the 2014 6 Hours of São Paulo.

Michael Earl Smith  is an American jockey who has been one of the leading riders in U.S. Thoroughbred racing since the early 1990s, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2003, and has won the most Breeders’ Cup races of any jockey with 26 Breeders’ Cup wins.Smith is also the second leading jockey of all time in earnings with over $312 million. In 2018, Smith rode Justify to the Triple Crown, becoming the oldest jockey to win the title at age 52.

Mike Smith earned the 5,000th victory of his Hall of Fame career when he teamed with 2011 sprint champion Amazombie to capture the $150,000 Potrero Grande Stakes  at Santa Anita Park on April 7, 2012.

As he became older, Smith chose to ride fewer but more lucrative races, and his success in doing so, particularly his ability to stay calm in the most high-pressure races, earned him the nickname “Big Money Mike“. In 2017, Smith became the 14th winner of the Laffit Pincay Jr. Award given by the Hall of Fame jockey it is named for. Recipients are given the award for having served the sport of horse racing “with integrity, extraordinary dedication, determination, and distinction.”

“When we started this award back in 2004, Mike Smith was absolutely the sort of person we had in mind as one of our winners,” Pincay said. “I only got to ride against him briefly out here, but I’ve followed his career over the years and he’s been a model of consistency, class, and pure athletic ability. He’s a star in all senses of the word and it is an honor to honor him.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Mike Smith at the Great Sports Legends Dinner , were he was honored with the 2018 Great Sports Legend , see more about Sports Legends in our World Liberty TV Sports Channels and Blogs by Clicking here.
